WALK TOWARD CLARITY

It came to me in the middle of the night:  I woke sometime (and don’t know what time it was) it was just there on my mind clearly:  “You have been concentrating on the evil in our Country, Lizzie.  You have been so discouraged that it probably brought Shingles to your face.”   For a long time now I have been praying every day for the people of the United States that they come to repentance. God’s people need to walk away from the evil in our culture; I include myself, ‘Lord, show me where I am sinning, when I am unforgiving, bitter.’

It is amazing to wake in the middle of the night with a clear thought:  “You are praying for repentance only.  You are focusing on the power of sin that has grown loud and angry all around.  Change your focus:  think about the power of God, Creator of the Universe.  ‘His throne is in the heavens, His kingdom rules over all.’ ”

“When sadness and fear begin again, change your mind, Lizzie.  Pray that the power of God will be shown.  King David knew all about violence and evil.  When he wrote Psalm 20 it was directly to you and me, too; ‘…the king trusts in the LORD…your hand shall find out all your enemies…those that hate you…’ ”

Remember the last verse, “Be exalted, LORD, in your own strength: so will we sing and praise your power.”

The next morning I told my husband, Eric, as we read the Bible together about the change in my focus.  As my last Blog encouraged “Just Walk Away”, it is a first step.  But there is something powerful to walk to: a strong and courageous and faith filled focus.  Set your mind and heart, focus on the power of God, Creator, your Savior from sin, your Redeemer:  He has you in His sights.  When you and I keep our hearts diligently, (‘Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life ‘)  the power of the Holy Spirit is real within.  He is guiding; truth this.  “When He the Spirit of Truth is come, He will guide you to all truth.”

Clarity will come; you will sleep better, live with more serenity.  As I do, you’ll probably have to work on it:  it is a positive focus; it is ours for the grasping.  (Psalm 103:19; Proverbs 4:23)
