Re-Understanding Submission . . . a Role Model

She is highlighted right in the center of the Bible.

The wise woman steps into view throughout The Proverbs. Her gifts and attitude show very clearly in the 14th and 31st chapters.

Before you know what her life is like, you see into her heart: “The heart of her husband safely trusts in her; she will do him good and not evil all the days of her life.”

And then God explains to you her wide ranging interests and freedom. She runs her home like a well oiled machine; her husband, children, servants and businesses thrive. She goes near and far to run her businesses, buy and sell real estate, to deal with the merchants in the city, and supply her household.

Where is submission? It shows in her dedicated heart and priorities and vision. Every one in her household is well cared for . . . and she herself? “Her clothing is silk and purple.”

How does she get along with her husband? He raves about her. Her children rise up and bless her.

Submission is a life dedicated to God, your husband, your household and your own wide ranging possibility! What does the “keeper at home” do? (Titus 2:5) What does her life look like? Here is your model. Your life can be an exciting adventure as hers. Looking inside for how you are “wired” and to God for wisdom, you will succeed.

This woman is busy and filled with purpose. I love that you mention that her clothing is silk and purple… she takes care of herself, she is not a martyr slaving away through her day. Sometimes I am overwhelmed by her accomplishments, but I always appreciate the example she sets.

Over coffee on the porch this morning my husband and I talked about your comment above. His thoughts were enlightening; I’ve asked him to write a Blog from his perspective on the subject.
