Jesus promised that the Holy Spirit will guide you to all truth. Follow His guidance for success in this one life you have been given. Carefully listen for the “voice” of the Holy Spirit?

After His death on the cross and resurrection, and just before he ascended to heaven, Jesus told his followers, “I tell you the truth; it is expedient for you (an advantage to you) that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send him to you.” (John 16:7)

What does this amazing promise mean? You have God, through the Holy Spirit inside you when you are a believer: Listen to the “Voice of the Comforter”, the Guide who cares more than you about your decisions and your life.

As you learn to listen, your purpose in life will crystallize. You will become focused. You will be better at decisions. Your marriage and family will tend to smooth out.

The Holy Spirit could speak through impressions in your mind or “even apparently” (like an audible voice) as he did for Moses. (Numbers 12:8) Most of the time it’s through the old-fashion way, by reading: the surest way He speaks is through the Bible.

When we choose to believe that this is true, this is when we really begin to listen. Truth will come through the Bible, read it and read it and read it. Other people might say something that resonates as true; it will be up to you to discern whether it is or is not. Circumstances might open or close a door to you; it might be His leading. Leaders in Churches might help you, or they might not. Listen for the truth; God will press it upon you; and until this assurance comes, keep listening.

This personable promise in the Bible is to you, “When He, the Spirit of truth is come, He will guide you into all truth . . .” (John 16:13)
