FORGET THE PAST, LOOK TO THE FUTURE

“I write unto you, little children, because your sins are forgiven you for his name’s sake.” (II John 2:12)

We all have regrets. Red faced, embarrassed, we are tempted to look back—but don’t! Look ahead! “This one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and stretching forward to those things which are before . . .” (Philippians 3:13)

If and when the failures, hurts and indignities from the past loom like a gathering storm, look ahead. God is there. “A new commandment I write to you, which thing is true in him and in you: because the darkness is past, and the true light now shines.” (I John 2:8)

If I think about my past I feel like a failure. If I let it loom, the future will be hindered by it.

God will be in your future if you ask Him to be. When a certain familiar fear threatens your heart and mind, very purposefully quote this verse: “Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.” (James 4:7, 8)

Peace comes when I say it out loud (or only in my heart), and hope comes with it.

The Word of God is “alive and active” in you. (Hebrews 4:12) Use this powerful technique at the moment a storm brews.
