You do not have to learn to be equal to men. You are created in the image of God, as is every man. You are the only other resemblance of God in the world. Sure, become the smartest and most respectful and wise female that you can be, grow in integrity and be good . . . but equality with a man is designated by God: “So God created mankind (a person, a human being) in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.” (Genesis 1:27). There can be no greater or lesser “image of God”.

Here is a warning: don’t make the mistake of thinking that because you are equal that you and your husband (or any male) think alike. As soon as you assume he knows how you think, what you are thinking and what you need, you are in a deep, dark cave with endless tunnels of possibility. Just try speaking up. Go ahead and say what you “know he knows” and see what dark trail in the canyon he pops out of. You will both be surprised.

I warn you (tongue in cheek): you are a female and your husband thinks male. I’m just here to give you a nudge before you find out once again in the middle of the next misunderstanding, the next hurt, the next dark canyon.

Look for difference, learn to understand male perspective vs. female, it is a giant step toward learning to think ahead and avoid pain. Think concisely in your equally significant way, get your perspective clear and interact respectfully with your “equal opposite”: that would be your husband.
