Though I am significant because the Bible says so (a female created in God’s image) yet I feel insignificant — to the point of panic sometimes.  I was like that last night in a mega church. I knew nobody and naturally no one looked at me and smiled in recognition. I felt small.

But Jesus cares for “insignificant feeling people”.  He will meet personally with you and me because He promised to.  He goes to and fro, looking and searching the whole earth to find the hearts of those who look for Him. (II Chron.16:9).

Two people were walking from Jerusalem to Emmaus after Jesus died. One was Cleopas, the other is unidentified.  They were sad as they walked along.  Jesus had risen from the dead, with all power in heaven and earth — but they didn’t know it.  As they walked Jesus himself drew near and went with them; but for some reason they did not recognize him.  And he said to them, “What manner of communications are these that you have one to another, as you walk, and are sad?”  (Luke 24:13 and following)

Who were these two?  We know very little about them, but the God of the Universe knew them.  He knew right where they were that day; he knew their sorrow and hopelessness.  As he fell into step on their long, slow walk.  When they had spilled out their story of grief to him, he responded painstakingly: “. . . beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning him.”  Jesus, the risen God, detailed his Plan of the Ages to them!

Are you ready? When we are ready, he opens our eyes and our understanding. “And they drew near the village, where they went: and he made as though he would have gone further. But they constrained him, saying, Abide with us:  for it is toward evening, and the day is far spent.  And he went in to tarry with them.  And it came to pass, as he sat at meat with them, he took bread, and blessed it, and brake, and gave it to them.  And their eyes were opened, and they knew him; and he vanished out of their sight.”

Are you ready?  At some point as you walk along the road of life feeling insignificant Jesus may come and walk with you.  You may not even know him at the time.  He will give you instruction and advice.  Will you listen?  Are you ready?
